Nine days after commissioner Rob Manfred canceled opening day and more than three months into an owner-implemented lockout, Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association agreed to a new labor contract Thursday afternoon in New York City. It’s about time!
In the meantime, this afternoon we watched Johns Hopkins’ baseball team in action against cross-town rival Towson from our hotel room across the street.
“We have a true baseball family here at Johns Hopkins,” says the team’s coach. “Our parents are the most supportive of any that I’ve seen. They supply us with dugout baskets for every game, home and away, feed us between games at all DH’s, and supply a post game meal at all weekend away games. Our alumni support is strong both in terms of helping financially and in coming to games.”
So we know they can eat, but can they play??? 😉
