“Nevada Union High School will be closed today due to a lack of teachers,” as YubaNet is reporting. “The administration will be working closely with the teachers union to find a quick resolution, an email to parents states. The NUJHSD board voted 3-1 (and one abstention) on Tuesday evening to remove the mask requirements and provide education on mask wearing only, contrary to the signed MOU that requires the school to comply with state health guidelines.”
I also heard from a teacher who confirmed this.
Meanwhile, The Union published the letter that is circulating at school:
From a Nevada Union High School administration email:
February 24, 2022
Good Morning Miner Families,
This is Kelly Rhoden, Principal of Nevada Union High School. Nevada Union High School will be closed today, Thursday, February 24, 2022, due to the number of teacher absences needed to support students in the classroom. It is our top priority to get students back in the classroom to further their education as soon as possible. We will be working closely with the teachers union and the district administration to find a quick resolution to our current situation.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and support as we work through these challenges.
Thank you,
Kelly Rhoden, Principal
Nevada Union High School
Our local school board’s backward behavior gets us on the Sacramento news!
“A school in Grass Valley is closed Thursday over a teacher shortage, school officials said on their website. Nevada Union High School posted the announcement on the school’s home page. In a letter to families, Kelly Rhoden, the school’s principal, said in part: ‘It is our top priority to get students back in the classroom to further their education as soon as possible. We will be working closely with the teachers union and the district administration to find a quick resolution to our current situation. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and support as we work through these challenges.'”
