A former Nevada City top administrator lands in Palos Verdes Estates

“Palos Verdes Estates has hired a longtime public administrator as its next city manager. Mark T. Prestwich was hired unanimously by the city council on Jan. 12. He’ll replace Laura Guglielmo, who resigned in August,” according to California City News.

“Prestwich’s career in public service spans two and a half decades. He began his career with the League of California Cities. He went on to become the Special Projects Manager for the Sacramento City Manager’s Office; Assistant to the City Manager of Napa; a management analyst for both Napa and Sunnyvale; top administrator for Nevada City; and, most recently, City Manager of St. Helena where he oversaw 82 full-time employees and a $69.4-million budget.

“Prestwich has also served as President of the Municipal Management Association of Northern California (MMANC) and is a current member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from California State University, Fullerton and a Master of Arts in Public Administration from the Graduate Center for Public Policy and Administration at California State University, Long Beach.

“During the recruitment process, ‘Mr. Prestwich exhibited the professionalism, temperament, skills, and forward-thinking attributes that we were searching for,’ said Mayor Victoria Lozzi. ‘With his 25 years of public sector experience, Mark successfully set himself apart as the most qualified individual to lead this organization.’”

“Prestwich said he is honored and excited to begin his new role. His start date is Feb. 22.” Congratulations, Mark! Here’s an interview with Mark from 2015:
