“Gnarly,” Carly

Carly Margulies of Mammoth Lakes has been posting stellar Freeski Halfpipe results since she began competing in 2013. Tonight we saw her competing in the Olympics on national television. I grabbed my iPhone to record this live interview on NBC after her qualifying runs from China. Carly has had seven knee surgeries, making her world-class achievements and dedication all the more impressive. On to the finals! Congratulations to Carly and the Margulies family, including our friend Matt. Another local we know of, J.C. Schoonmaker of Tahoe City, competed in cross country skiing.

  1. “Team USA’s Carly Margulies … will still finish well off the podium. Still, what a remarkable journey for Margulies, who had seven knee surgeries to get here. The 2022 Winter Olympics actually marked her first competition in TWO YEARS. Wild.” —NBC Sports
