Kimala’s “Gratitude Journal”

The horrific COVID-19 pandemic has caused all of us to look inward and be thankful, so the timing is ideal for local Kimala DeSena’s “My 30 Day Gratitude Journal: Equipping You with a Blessed Attitude.”

“My 30 Day Gratitude Journal was designed for the Godly woman in mind. This guidebook will take you on a journey of self discovery as you spend 5-10 minutes daily to ponder and pray, then journal your answers on the pages provided.

“You simply cannot feel stressed when you feel blessed! The ‘My 30 Day Gratitude Journal’ guidebook is the exact dose of goodness needed during these trying times.”

You can learn more about Kimala’s 71-page book here. It is independently published.

As her biography points out, “Kimala is happily married to her husband, Stephen, and has raised two college-age boys in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Northern California. Together they lead a 3rd generation family real estate business and fully serve others in their close-knit community.”

I ordered Kimala’s book because we always like to support our local writers. These books — on subjects ranging from local history (Gage McKinney) to award-winning fiction (Josh Weil) to nonfiction (Jordan Fisher Smith) — are filling a growing corner on our bookshelf. I would like to see The Union’s publisher, Don Rogers, write a book. Though a journalist, he also has a keen interest in fiction writing as well.

Kimala is originally from New Orleans, one of my favorite towns. I’m a fan of the food and culture. On that note I would recommend “Miss Ella of Commander’s Palace,” a biography of the late Ella Brennan, “mother, mentor, blunt-talking fireball, and matriarch of a New Orleans restaurant empire, famous for bringing national attention to Creole cuisine.”
