“Mr. Sanders was more evenly matched with Mr. Biden in the West, where Idaho and Washington were too close to call. But there was little doubt by the end of the night that Mr. Sanders had lost his recent status as the progressive front-runner in a race defined for months by feuding and factionalism on the moderate wing of the Democratic Party.
“By besting Mr. Sanders for a second consecutive week, Mr. Biden, the former vice president, demonstrated that his successes on Super Tuesday reflected more than fleeting good fortune, and that many Democratic voters had rallied behind his candidacy in a lasting enough way to erase his embarrassing setbacks last month in Iowa and New Hampshire.”

If Biden becomes the nominee, I’ll have to do more than hold my nose and vote for him, I’ll have to wear a hazmat suit and vote for him, with the knowledge he’ll almost surely lose. Trump won’t even have to lie about Biden, although he’ll probably do that too. Here’s why:

Yellow Dog Voter- If a Yellow Dog came on to the Democrats debate stage, ate dog food, sat on a bar stool with a beer, then relieved themselves on the stage, I would vote for them. To get rid of this complete ass Trump from killing us all with his total ignorance of everything around him. Everything. (“this virus will magically go away”—-magically? ) Whoever the nominee is, I will vote for them, and it wont take any hand wringing .
Yes, defeating Trump is the Prime Directive, and I’ll vote for a yellow dog or even a black dog like Biden, if he’s the nominee, rather than the vicious dog, Trump.
The most worrisome thing to me, though, is that the corporate Democrats, by engineering Biden’s nomination, have promoted the most defeatable candidate possible, with all the same weaknesses and vulnerabilities that Hilary Clinton had in 2016, as Nathan Robinson makes clear in the article I cited above.
I’m doing plenty of hand-wringing, but doing it now before the nominating process is complete, when there’s still a chance (though faint at this point, I admit) … a chance of avoiding another tragic loss to Trump.
The notion that Biden is the most electable candidate in the Democratic field is a tragic tragic error.

Yes- I have followed all the “bad Biden’ history, I wish all candidates were all things to all people. I wish they were all squeaky clean, but I’ll live. The country seems to go with Biden right now. I voted for Bernie. Unlike Bernie supporters from 2016, I will vote, even if Bernie isn’t the nominee. But, right now, I really don’t care about Biden gaffes, past votes from years ago, whether he’s liked by people of color or not, if hes not enough of a progressive or not, or whether he’s tweeted about by this ass of a president we have now— he’s not Trump. Trump will go after whoever is the nominee with every hate laced tweet we have ever heard. Whoever the nominee is, Trump will call them everything negative there is to say. whether it’s the truth or not makes no difference. Never has with Trump. So bring it. Trump will be defeated !
Yes, I voted for Bernie and I’ll vote for the Democratic nominee, whoever it is.
But it’s important to be aware of his fitness and unfitness for office, because — if he does win — he’ll merit as much scrutiny and perhaps resistance as Trump does.
Until we can somehow loosen the corporate death grip on US politics (which may be never) we should expect an endless train of Trumps and Bidens.

On the optimistic side, Thom Hartmann points out that Bernie has so shifted our political dialog that even Biden — changeable Biden — has adopted some of his positions. Moreover, Hartmann reminds us, FDR campaigned in 1932 with the promise to cut spending! So, shifting with the political winds and with the exigencies of the age is often a virtue.
