More on new parking garage proposed in downtown Nevada City

“A beautiful parking garage has been proposed for downtown Nevada City behind The National in the rear parking lot,” Nevada City Mayor Reinette Senum writes on her Facebook page.

“The structure most likely will include some additional storefronts on the first level and possibly apartments or office spaces above. This structure will nearly double our current parking with 190 new spaces.

“While still seeking final approval from the planning, etc., the conceptual drawings have been given a thumbs up by the city council and additional amenities have been suggested such as solar panels on the rooftop, EV charging stations, and a space to convert a portion of the garage into a extreme weather shelter for the homeless.

“It will be two-stories high in the front, part subterranean with four stories in the back — but amazingly tucked in behind the trees and not an unsightly sore thumb. Fabulous vision. Beautifully designed by Bruce Boyd, Architect and Planner (see drawings below).”
