The Nevada County Historical Landmarks Commission is delighted to invite the public to its March 29 unveiling ceremony for a new plaque to be installed at 309 Broad St. in Nevada City, the site of the Golden Era Lounge.
The ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. and will include historical information about the site provided by property owner Steve Giardina. Light refreshments will be served.
309 Broad St. was landmarked by the Commission in 2017 and has served as a saloon or bar since the Gold Rush era. It was masterfully renovated by Steve and Cindy Giardina, who reopened it as the Golden Era Lounge in 2015. It has many historical features, including a bar that is over 120 years old.
309 Broad St. is featured in the Commission’s interactive map and e-guide. The eguide is an electronic book cataloging all the County’s historical landmarks, and is available for any smartphone or tablet from Apple or Amazon. Go to You Bet Press (youbetpress.com) to find clickable links.
