Gunned down on her beat

Davis police officer Natalie Corona, 22, was shot and killed when a suspect at an accident scene opened fire and gunned her down. It sparked a nightlong siege in this quiet college town that lasted into Friday morning. The details are here.

  1. This is so sad, even more so coming just days after the senseless death on Christmas day of Ronil Singh in Newman. It seems like both Ms. Corona and Mr. Singh were such promising young people motivated by community service.

  2. I think it is illustrative of their sense of community that in 37 comments on the Sierra Dragon’s Breath[e] blog about Ronil Singh almost all of them are attacks on you Jeff rather than a memorial to Mr. Singh.
