This is a big election day in California, and the country (and county) is watching:
For the Nevada County elections page, click HERE.
For state results, click HERE.
Update around midnight: So far, local results show Miller leading Hodge for District 3 Supervisor; Moon, Smithers and Foster in a close race for Sheriff (expect a runoff); Newell over Jennings in a close race for DA, and Diaz in a big lead for clerk-recorder.
“A rough estimate of ballots remaining to be counted is between 12,000 and 15,000 ballots,” YubaNet is reporting.
The Nevada County Elections Result Map is here: https://gis.nevcounty.net/electionresults
Statewide results show Newsom and Cox in a runoff for governor, and Feinstein in the top spot for Senator with the second spot undecided.
Jeff, The results are coming in. Any comments?
Ha! What are YOUR comments? I’ll say something when the second batch of returns come in tonight. I’ve been in touch with the Elections Office, and the Truckee returns are on their way. It might be until Friday until the final numbers are known, however, because a large number of voters showed up to vote late today and a large number of ballots were dropped off at the Elections Office. We are, however, removing our campaign sign for Greg Diaz from the front yard as we speak, because he has won handily, I predict. Experience counts.
Handily?, Diaz by a landslide, I’d say! Good outcome there.

Pretty quiet this morning.
Crickets on Todd’s blog when it comes to the results of the local clerk-recorders race. Todd sure his wasted his money on that race. ROFLMAO.
A big congratulations to Mr Diaz on his victory!!! I’m very proud to have cast my vote for him
Well, some of the cheap shot, racially tinged, campaign messaging from Diaz’s opponents crossed a line and that likely turned voters off.
Experience counts!
“At least 14K ballots remain to be counted in Nevada County”: https://yubanet.com/regional/at-least-14000-ballots-remain-to-be-counted-in-nevada-county/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+YubanetRegional+%28YubaNet.com+-+Sierra+Nevada+News%29
15,000 ballots remain to be counted in Nevada County: https://yubanet.com/regional/15030-ballots-remain-to-be-counted-in-nevada-county/
No way to know how many of those 15,000 ballots were cast by Nevada City voters, but for Evans and Erin –– who now wait until Monday noon to learn which one of them will be sitting at the council table until 2022 –– another four days will seem like four weeks. Meantime, congratulations to Duane, who was able to pop the bubbly on election night.
In 1996, when there were three city council seats open and six candidates on the ballot, I managed to hold on to the third seat by two votes, (including a recount), so I can appreciate the anxiety Evans and Erin might be experiencing right now.
Looking at the returns, I see that under-voting remains an important election strategy. If someone votes for only one candidate rather than two, that’s a powerful vote. Some folks might think it’s a sneaky way to get an advantage over other candidates, but it’s been happening as long as elections are based on the top-two or top-three being declared winners.
The sexist pigs are out in force on George Rebane’s blog! Sheesh.
And those vocal locals “with the shape of an ‘L’ on their forehead” (AKA losers) are still grinding their axes over on Todd’s blog. What a hoot!
Todd’s blog is a local reminder that “you can’t fix stupid.”
Except for the occasional newcomer it’s pretty much just “anonymous” and Todd. Like talking into a mirror.
Legends in their own mind.
No surprise here. The oinkers always have something to whine (or swine?) about
Does anyone know of a good shrink we can get for Todd’s blog? Maybe we should start a GoFundMe campaign!LOL.
I loved his comment today that Grass Valley is the ‘economic engine’ of Nevada County.
First, don’t get me wrong, I love Grass Valley and Nevada City, and in many ways would rather live there–um except in the summer when it’s too hot and the winter when it doesn’t snow enough–but the food, the arts, the businesses, the people…love them all.
Second, it’s important to remember that we are all in this together, and our county should be all in it together.
But consider this…

You’re right, Todd did say that. Of course, Todd wouldn’t know an “economic engine” if it was sitting on blocks in his front yard! ROFLOL
The Juvinall blog has spun out of control tonight. I think it eats at them that Greg Diaz won again — by a landslide. Greg rents a lot of space inside their noggins. ROFLOL.
I am so proud to have helped Mr. Diaz win by a landslide with my vote
It’s a beautiful afternoon for most of us, but Barry and Todd are becoming unhinged on Todd’s blog. No, Barry I am not a “close friend” of Linda Campbell. I have never met her or even spoken to her. No, Todd, I am not “close friends and a confidant” of Linda Campbell. As I said, I have never met her or even spoken to her. Todd and Barry ought to go on a hike with Dr. Phil!
I find it amazing how often these dimwits just pull their “facts” out of their a***s. Absolutely no shame or self awareness. Remember Jeff when I was declared one of your sock puppets by these morons? They think their “brilliant” delusions are reality.
I wonder if I’m still a sock puppet or am I still supposed to be Jeff LOL!
After reading the ongoing thread between Barry and Todd on Todd’s blog tonight, I’m not even sure Dr. Phil could help them. Yikes!

Oh look. Barry Pruett’s “scoop” about Linda Campbell got published in The Union. Big difference, though: The Union got “her side” too: https://www.theunion.com/news/local-news/linda-campbell-trustee-of-nevada-joint-union-board-arrested-on-contempt-charge/
