From the blog of Sierra FoodWineArt magazine:
ol’ Republic Brewery, located in Nevada City, is scheduled to open its second location in Rancho Cordova this March.
The new brick n’ mortar location will include a taproom open to walk-in customers. “To have a brewery of this caliber come to our city, and want to be actively involved in our new Barrel District, is showing us we are doing the right thing,” says Curt Haven, Director of Economic Development for the City of Rancho Cordova.
ol’ Republic has seen significant growth since their launch seven years ago. Each fiscal has delivered increased production and revenues, attributed to their long-term business model. However, the power behind the brand, says co-founder Jim Harte, is the beers quality.
“These two hard working ‘best friends,’ Harte and co-founder Simon Olney, make some of the best lagers in California,” says “Big Mike” Moore, head of the California State Fair commercial beer competition. Accolades include “Best of Show” for Dead Canary, a German Dortmund-style lager. ol’ Republic also produces hoppy IPAs with hits like Clouds of Jupiter and other celestial hoppy beers.
“We’ve been carefully planning entry into the Sacramento market for some time,” says Harte. “The Rancho Cordova location is the perfect hub to service the greater Sacramento area. Partner and co-founder Olney, agrees, “Self-distributing from here will means we can deliver quickly and efficiently to any account in the area in shorter time.”
“The craft brewing industry in California continues to grow. It will be exciting to have a ‘taste of the Gold Country’ in Sacramento with the opening of the new ol’ Republic Brewery in Rancho Cordova,” says Tom McCormick, Executive Director of the California Craft Brewers Association.
ol’ Republic recently acquired the American River Brewing Company facility and taproom. ol’ Republic will be located 11151 Trade Center Dr, Rancho Cordova, CA.

So, the question remains: when is ol’ Republic opening their location at the Old Five Mile House???
Hi Joan,
I spoke to Jim at length this afternoon. The Five Mile House is still a “go”; they decided to do some structural work and that means the opening is slated for February. They are excited. Jim also said they struck a deal to distribute their beer at Raley’s (a “scoop”) and this Rancho Cordova location will help with all the Sacramento distribution.
