“You all made the 12th Annual Night of Giving (this past weekend) the most fun ever! We topped $78,000 which sends us into the winter months able to provide much-needed food and shelter,” Hospitality House wrote on its Facebook page. Other highlights included 680 tickets sold; 12,298 on Facebook for livestream that night; and 550 meals served in 1.25 hours. Thanks to so many amazing musicians and volunteers and to producer extraordinaire Mikail Graham Presents – Nevada City Music Events.” Regular reader Chip Wilder send along this photo:

For the past 1 1/2 years, our family has made a monthly donation to the Interfaith Food Ministry to feed a local family. Our son and his high-school classmates at Ghidotti Early College High School volunteered to give away food to hungry people at Thanksgiving.
This holiday season we’re going to adopt a night at Hospitality House to provide food and shelter for 54 people there. Thanks to all of our locals who donate their time and money for our local nonprofits. Like Chip, many of them are regular readers of this blog.
“Hospitality House is happy to report that Ashley and her son Ayden, have cause for huge celebration—they moved into a home of their own. Ayden now has the security of a home environment, and Ashley has the stability she needs to succeed in the restaurant job she acquired through the culinary skills class at Hospitality House. In fact, she was just asked to increase her hours to four days per week at the restaurant. With your help, Ashley and Ayden have now joined over 400 others whom Hospitality House has moved from homelessness to housing in the last several years.”
More than one-quarter of the total homeless population nationwide lives in California, roughly 114,000.
The number of people who are homeless in California continues to rise at a steady clip. Every year, the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development releases a Point in Time count of the homeless population. This year that number reached nearly 554,000 — a 1 percent increase from last year, driven by the dramatic surge in West Coast cities. -from California Today
The Night Of Giving allows us all to get in on a local gift basket of talent and at the same time support our local shelter. What talented and giving musicians we have in our part of the Foothills! Put this event on your calendar for next year-
