Trump comments on race open breach with C.E.O.s, military and G.O.P.

“President Trump found himself increasingly isolated in a racial crisis of his own making on Wednesday, abandoned by the nation’s top business executives, contradicted by military leaders and shunned by Republicans outraged by his defense of white nationalist protesters in Charlottesville, Va,” as The New York Times is reporting.

“The breach with the business community was the most striking. Titans of American industry and finance revolted against a man they had seen as one of their own, concluding Wednesday morning they could no longer serve on two of Mr. Trump’s advisory panels.

“But before Stephen A. Schwarzman, the chief executive of the Blackstone Group and one of Mr. Trump’s closest business confidants, could announce a decision to disband Mr. Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum — in a prepared statement calling “intolerance, racism and violence” an “affront to core American values” — the president undercut him and did it himself, in a tweet.

“’Rather than putting pressure on the businesspeople of the Manufacturing Council & Strategy & Policy Forum, I am ending both,’ Mr. Trump wrote. ‘Thank you all!’

“The condemnation descended on the president a day after he told reporters in a defiant news conference at Trump Tower in Manhattan that ‘alt-left’ demonstrators were just as responsible for the violence in Charlottesville last weekend as the neo-Nazis and white supremacists who instigated protests that led to the death of a 32-year-old woman, struck down by a car driven by a right-wing activist.”

  1. I don’t blame those people for distancing themselves from him. Terry Mac Ateer’s letter in the Union is spot on. The republican party is a far cry from the republicans that my parents were.

  2. All one has to do is read our fellow citizens blog at Rebanes Ruminations and Sierra Dragon’s Breath[e] to see the mindset and narrative of intolerance, historical revisionism, and alt-right propaganda that exists in our own community.

For years I have pointed out that these people were outright racists and separatists, who knowingly advanced a narrative that the only solution in America is ‘separatism’, ironically the very narrative advanced by Richard Spencer and Andrew Anglin of The Daily Stormer are advancing.

I know that George Rebane would claim that there is some hair splitting difference between “American nationalism” which he is a proponent of, and white separatism, which he claims not to be a proponent of, even as he advocates for the right of people to live in culturally similar enclaves where values are shared, never answering my questions about how in our society of laws governed by a Constitution that values equity this could be achieved. What does one do the first time a liberal, or an immigrant (now even legal immigrants in their minds) or someone who doesn’t share his values seeks to buy a home or start a business in his culturally similar enclave?

The narrative they are advancing is that we must do something to protect our European heritage. In their minds our heritage is under threat from some a greater force.

“But the whole affair reveals the real agenda now playing out in America, to equate white nationalism with western culture in the minds of the lightly informed, as our Left continues to forge a path to autocratic globalism. The globalist elites know that as long as a significant number of the earth’s people cling to tenets of western culture, there is little hope of convincing countries to forsake their sovereignty, and replace it with one overarching world government.”–George Rebane

In his musing Rebane equates removing public monuments paid for and maintained with all taxpayers money to people who fought to sustain and spread slavery in the United States, to the rise of a new left wing American ISIS.

“Do we follow the presumably sincere and heartfelt sentiments of ISIS and the Taliban who vandalize and destroy historical artifacts they consider hateful and even blasphemous to their God? According to the tenets of their culture, such monuments and artifacts are an affront to the very foundation of our universe. What about removing all evidence of the Roman Empire, a regime that conquered, ravaged, and enslaved so much of the world? And was it not the Arabs in the first millennium who opened up the African slave trade along that continent’s east coast; do we also tear down the symbols of Arabic faith and glory? And then throw in the Judeo-Christian scriptures and manifold artifacts abetting slavery.” –George Rebane

“However, on deeper reflection, today’s attacks on the historical Confederacy can also be seen as the next opportune and expedient battle in the ongoing war on America and western culture.” George Rebane

(Personally I think it might have more to do with the fact that we have finally achieved some measure of true equity in our country and the descendants of people carried here in bondage, oppressed, brutalized, raped, murdered and denied their Constitutional rights for generations finally have the legal and poltiical power to demand that their history be respected.)

See one has to be a separatist because if you don’t support separatism you are not standing up for western culture and will be over-run by the one world government. ISIS will win…one-world government by Sharia law will overcome you. See this is not about race it is about western culture and protecting our heritage. Race just happens to be a part of the global conspiracy.

This is the type of muddle headed logic and false equivalency that can only be either 1) intentionally constructed propaganda designed to divide Americans by race, ideology, and political philosphy rather than bind us together with shared values, or 2) so captured by paranoid conspiratorial thinking that one must question their sanity.

I think it is intentional in George;s case and its just ignorance in Todd’s case. Face it, Todd is so stupid he just follows other peoples thoughts because it is to much work to construct his own. So lets remind George when he spreads this conspiracy nonsense on KVMR to promote his blog that when you lay down with Richard Spencer, American Nazis, and the KKK you are who you are intimate with.

  3. “The narrative they are advancing is that we must do something to protect our European heritage.”

That European heritage thing, that is exactly what I’ve read in books written by Eastern Front WWII soldiers in the Wehrmacht or the Waffen-SS as they were rolled back by the Red Army in the late stages of the war, usually in 1945. Boy did they moan about how the world just didn’t understand or appreciate how they were trying to save European culture from the red menace, the Bolsheviks. Of course the authors never mentioned knowing anything about the death camps, strictly battle lines and battles and the greater cause of saving Europe.

      1. Yep, read that one. If I remember correctly he was on his way to the front on a train and saw a westbound train with flat bed cars and what looked like cordwood stacked up, it wasn’t cordwood, it was casualties.
        Twilight of the Gods
        In Deadly Combat
        Blood Red Snow
Red Sniper on the Eastern Front
        Behind Hitler’s Lines
        Panzer Destroyer
        Race for the Reichstag
Campaign in Russia: The Waffen SS on the Eastern Front by Leon Degrelle. Degrelle comes to mind with “fighting for European culture”.

I probably have read over a dozen books by Russian and German soldiers.
I read most of Savage Continent about the fighting/score settling that went on right after WWII, I couldn’t finish it and that ended my book consumption with that subject.
