The Union owes Nevada County Peeps a clarification

The errors of omission are endless! The Union couldn’t ignore Nevada County Peeps (it’s become a de facto community gathering place), so it wrote about the Facebook group with a real bias. The Union also posts “fake news.”

But it still fell short. “Welcome to Nevada County Peeps, the largest Facebook group in Nevada County. The site boasts nearly 21,000 members and receives up to 40 membership requests each week.”

Nevada County Peeps has “20,795 members,” according to Faecbook. A screen grab is here:

The Union, by contrast, has just 11,628 “likes.”

Why didn’t The Union report this added detail? The internet is changing how we communicate.

  1. Meanwhile, below this article in the “business section.” The Union has republished a local bank’s earnings release verbatim. Not a word of analysis. Wow.
