Ms. Rebane educates the rest of us on “Trump Derangement Syndrome”

Editor’s note: This letter was written and published in The Union, honest:

“Nevada County is experiencing an unreported mental health crisis. A fair number of our neighbors are suffering. They are exhibiting nonspecific fear, rage, growing disorientation and confusion. Their trauma began on election night last November producing symptoms similar to PTSD. The malady is called Trump Derangement Syndrome.

“These dear people need help. Luckily our county is well prepared with abundant avenues for healing and support. As a public service, The Union should detail sources where those suffering can find succor. The phone book lists more than 20 therapists and psychiatrists, eight purveyors of meditation and yoga instruction, and more than 35 churches offering healing prayer. We have personal coaches, chocolatiers, wineries, exercise studios, day spas, and multiple shops which sell soothing candles and comforting night lights.

“From the street demonstrations and the rants in The Union, I, as a compassionate conservative, find this crisis to be so severe that the county’s Behavioral Health Department should declare a state of psychiatric emergency and immediately establish Election Results Acceptance Centers.

  1. Mrs. Rebanes speaks….well finally, because I was wondering why she had been so silent…perhaps…”She probably, maybe she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say. You tell me. But plenty of people have written that. She was extremely quiet, and it looked like she had nothing to say. A lot of people have said that.”

  2. So, we already know that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.
Some folks, like the writer in question, have such a vindictive streak that they don’t hear themselves when they are deliberately gloating or crowing at the expense of others.
Using hurtful, sarcastic rhetoric suggesting that political belief which differs from one’s own is a form of mental illness.
This only perpetuates further division and rancor in the community, but the need to satisfy oneself by issuing invective, seems to have overridden tolerance and self-restraint.
That is the real metal illness here and I hope it was good for her, because reading her obscenely vengeful LTE was rather like having to watch someone masturbate.

  4. She certainly is no Ms. to be sure. As Steve pointed out, I believe she is a parrot of her husband in an almost Stepford manner.

  5. “nonspecific fear, rage, growing disorientation and confusion”. not knowing the person, I was at first confused about which ‘group’ she was referring.

  6. Here’s another gem from George Rebane on his blog this morning: “Sweden’s reaction to Trump’s characterization is understandable – they want to keep that devastation a secret because it hits them in their tourist budget besides making their progressive politicians look like sniveling assholes. ” Posted by: George Rebane | 20 February 2017 at 08:45 AM

  7. Since TD is likely to block me from his site I must respond to him here.
A man who never served his country would be unlikely to muster the courage to confront this old lady.
Mrs. Rebane is free to write whatever she pleases, and whatever pleases her enormously, as the glee in her LTE exhibited.
It is her right, and mine to call it out for what it is.

No Annie, this is no compliant robot Stepford wife.
Her spouse appears to have little sway over his woman or he might have warned her not to reflect upon him and their family as petty, vindictive and like Mr. Trump insecure about his lack of a mandate.

It would please these persons as it does my L&M, that I am actually one of those folks that is enjoying this show.
Trump is good TV and I was bored.
    Now I am riveted.
BTW, I did not vote for either Hillary or Trump, because I have moral standards they both failed.
However, I am happy to see the logjam break and get on to either peace or total thermo-nuclear war.
    Maybe we can win it!
I happen to believe, like the late writer Loren Eiseley that as we are climbing a human heat ladder and that nuclear war, of some kind, is an inevitability.
The hard right may be correct in the direction they want to take us all, perhaps now is the time for the big showdown.
Many won’t survive into the future and radiation sickness may finally end humanity’s brief but disastrous control and abuse of this planet.
But if some of us manage to survive and mutate, it could be a whole new world.
And right about now, I’m all for that.

    1. Judith, I disagree regarding her Stepford mannerism and believe she thinks she is actually complimenting her husband and family in her own twisted way. The rest of your post is spot on. BTW, I didn’t vote for either Hillary or tRump as well for the same reason.

      1. Annie,

I can see that about her mannerisms.
However, if you will recall, the Stepford wives were engineered for physical perfection and beauty, as well as brainlessness.
JAR’s LTE seemed to be written for no other purpose than to wound.
If she is getting blowback, it is well-deserved.
Right now we all need more tolerance and compassion, not so much bitchiness and snark.

      2. Judith, I agree with your comment regarding beauty so she misses the mark indeed. I’ve tried the compassionate and tolerant route with these folks and only received bitchiness and snark in return. I don’t do the bitch thing but will stand up to it.

      3. I don’t know about you Annie, but what say we forget about that stupid old poisoned pen letter now, and get out there and have a great day!

“That blog is full of insulting personal attacks, no boundaries or standards.”

Todd dear, please stop embarrassing yourself.
Everybody knows you are talking to your mirror and that you most probably comment as, “anonymous”, to give the impression that your views and the way you deliver them have any support at all.

And although pearl clutching oddly seems to suit you, do yourself a favor and remember your past comments about your erstwhile phallus and it’s impressive stature at airport security, to feign any delicacy about the manner in which I call out the abominable is sheer hypocrisy on your part, you apparent rogue you.

    1. BOOM! Nailed it! Does he really think that because he has the “last word” commenting on the LTE’s with boorish rhetoric that he’s actually convinced readers to go his obnoxious way?

  9. Rebane and company have some twisted need to justify their politics with continuous attacks on liberals/progressives. The ugly part is that the attacks are not about policies but person. Rebane seems to try and assail the character of people who believe differently. He has even gone so far as to claim that “liberalism” is a mental disorder. Character assassination is the last resort when one has nothing logical or factual to offer. Common of rightwing propaganda, he accuses his opponents of precisely the same thing he seeks to defend.. in this case his “psychiatric emergency” is the mirror image of how the rest of the world views Trump.

    1. Doesn’t matter what Nancy “thinks” and has a right to spew her drivel. Hilary is correct. I read her inspiring post this morning and agree. She mentioned some woman who said the dam failed because of all those Liberal tears. Say what? Obama was president for 8 years. That’s 8 years of tears of hers and others like her..

      1. Thank you Jeff. I noticed that too after reading Mrs. Meckler’s silly response to Hilary’s excellent column. Silly as it is however, Mrs. Meckler has the right to her and her husband’s opinion.

  10. Trump has been compared to ‘Jed Clampett’ of the TV show ‘Beverly Hillbillies’. I think the ‘Trump Show’ is more like a mashup of ‘Beverly Hillbillies’, ‘Gilligan’s Island’, and ‘Green Acres’. Lol
