More bull “you know what” in the local blogosphere from George Rebane

Editor’s note: This is the typical bull “you know what” from local hard-right political activist and blogger George Rebane. Contrary to what he has written below, here’s the kind of nasty remarks George has made about Anna Haynes, who created the informative “Nevada County Voices” aggregated website. From Rebane’s Ruminations this weekend:

Nevada County Voices has dropped RR from its community website listings.  Since its inception RR has enjoyed coverage by having its recent posts listed and linked in the site’s ‘Right Wing’ column.  The reason for the change is not apparent, especially since RR has always lauded this informative site edited by Dr Anna Haynes.  To be frank, the site and its editor are definitely of the Left persuasion – for example, there is no equivalent listing of ‘Left Wing’ sites.  Apparently all the remainder of the listed sites have no ideological slant or bias that is apparent to Dr Haynes.  Perhaps the removal of RR is part and parcel of the local Left’s perennial call to silence my public voice and involvement as part of their overall crusade to deny opposing opinions and viewpoints a place in the community forum.  In any case it was fun while it lasted, and we will continue featuring Nevada County Voices in the Our Links panel on the right.  [update]  Oops!  My tears flowed too soon; RR has been reinstated in its usual slot.  Now the only nit I have left to pick is my envy of fellow blogger Mr Todd Juvinall Sierra Dragon’s Breath, who enjoys having the last ten of his posts being listed while the rest of us are limited to five max.  Oh well, Anna always did like Todd the best.”

What an effing waste of Rebane’s words. Anna is fair. Probably if he had just checked with her initially about the glitch, she would have repaired it promptly. That has always been my experience with Anna.

I believe she moved out of the area because of the predominance of the right-wing in our local politics. Too bad she didn’t stick around longer … she’d be cheered by how the right is becoming more and more irrelevant here.

Well said. If Paul Emery of the KVMR News Hour and the Music in the Mountains board read George’s nasty screed such as “The sad tale of Anna Haynes,” I wonder if they would have embraced him as they have: http://rebaneruminations.typepad.com/rebanes_ruminations/2010/03/the-sad-tale-of-anna-haynes.html.
This is not a “free speech” issue; it is a judgment issue.

Hello there guys. I hope you all are well. Thanks for the kind words. (not for the screed link, admittedly)

JeffP was kind enough to alert me (with a comment at the Bugs/Status link, ncvoices.wordpress.com/bugs ) that there were NCVoices issues over on the right, which I hope I have now addressed ok. GR, I hadn’t realized your blog wasn’t showing up. I can’t speak to that, except to say that a more prolific writer can overwhelm less prolific ones. I’ve moved Mr. T.J. to his own section, and (now) shrank and ‘balanced’ the “right wing” section better, so his posts will be noticeable but not obscuring the others.

FYI though, so it’s not a surprise, I do have the attributes set on NCVoices so that post headlines in the far right column don’t get any “google juice”, or not directly, from being present – I don’t want to contribute to Google’s denialism issues. (This is imperfect! I realize it! But I do try to make it easy for people to find and read you, on the NCVoices.us page, if that’s what they want.)

Thank you Anna! I am grateful for your work on this aggregation site. I know the right-wing nut bloggers are grateful too; they just don’t know how to express it (being of the “get off my lawn” generation). Happy Holidays!
