Raley’s in Grass Valley refines its “ecart” service

151228-ecart-unata-logoWe mostly shop at BriarPatch, SPD, farmers markets and CSAs (“veggies in a box”), but we tried an online service at Raley’s on Freeman Lane this week called “ecart.”

It saves time when you’re in a hurry. You shop online at Raleys.com,  fill your “virtual” shopping cart and reserve a pickup time. Then you pay with a credit card (or you can pay when you pick up your order).

When you arrive at the store to collect your order, park in an eCart parking spot in back, then text or call your personal shopper at: 530-444-0069.  A clerk comes out with your groceries, helps you put them in the trunk and you drive off. We were pleased with the produce that was selected.

Over the years, we’ve tried services such as Webvan, which offer door-to-door delivery. We often like shopping in a store ourselves, but when you’re in a hurry, or just need sundries, this service does the trick. It’s free the first three times; then it’s $5.95 for orders under $150 and free for orders $150 or higher.
