Ex-Union publisher running for Truckee Donner Public Utility District board seat

I was up in Truckee for a meeting this week, and noticed a sign touting Jim Hemig, the former publisher of The Union, for the Truckee Donner Public Utility District board.

Three incumbents and Hemig are vying for three open seats for four-year terms. Hemig left The Union to join his dad’s real estate business in Truckee.

“Hemig — whose father, Ron Hemig, was a Truckee Donner PUD board member for several years up to 2014 — said that if he were elected to the board, he would not become complacent,” according to an article in the Sierra Sun.

“He also said that he’d use his experience to use both social media and the local media to communicate with consumers.

“’My goal would be to understand what’s going on with the PUD and turn around and communicate that,’ he said.”

Good idea Jim.

Good luck!
