“An Etiquette Primer for Trimmigrants” is now circulating around our towns, thanks to some locals concerned with responsible cultivation of pot. We saw one in downtown Nevada City. It reads in part: “Nevada County is a melting pot of liberal and conservative lifestyles. As visitors to Nevada County, respecting our community values is essential to fitting in and being mindful of others is an important staring [sic] point.” I wonder if the trimmigrants and “those who employ them” will read it. Hi Karla, it’s not an “invitation.” Some locals concerned with responsible cultivation of marijuana.
I will have to look for one of these flyers. I still have not seen one of The Union’s marijuana-related publications around town. They must go like hot cakes once they hit the shelves (or I am looking the wrong places).
Why not strive toward legitimizing this business, keeping Nevada County cannabis dollars in our own economy and hiring locals for this work?
Wanted: Agricultural manicurists for seasonal work in clean, professional facility.

I think it’s kind of cool. Some folks complain about the trimmers coming into the area for a million different reasons, some legitimate – most not. I think this little hand out addresses some of the complaints in a good natured way. Whether the suggestions are followed or not, at least it’s “reaching out” from the people who grow and are trying to be compliant to the ridiculous ban that’s in place at this time. Not a bad Idea. . .
California Growers are really trying to make a difference with a large portion of the transient population that arrive like locust during Burning Man, and then end up trimming/living here with sort of a headset that life owes them a living. Cal Growers are working locally and trying their best to correct a growing problem and concern that has changed the quality and feeling of this town. Call it a form of hopeful education to the drifters and troglodutes that roam the streets with their Fiskars in hand. I personally think its a great move and hope to god it makes a difference for the herb is not going to go away any time some.

That was suppose to read “troglodytes”: A member of any of various peoples who lived or were reputed to live chiefly in caves or holes thus lives underground. This was a favorite term that my x-husband Mark Weyman, would use to discribe scumbags or a contemptible or objectional person.
Based on stories I have heard, coming to CA during trimming season seems to be a right of passage for bored East coast trust fund kids looking for adventure, not unlike the hippies of the 60’s except instead of cruising the highways and byways in Volkswagen busses, it’s more like late model Volvos.
Swimming in either of the local pools includes a shower, and is far less than $10 charged at the fairgrounds.
