Vote-by-mail ballots expected around May 20

Editor’s note: I received this email from Sandra Sjoberg, our county’s assistant clerk-recorder/registrar of voters:

“I was following up with our printer to verify that our vote-by-mail ballots were mailed yesterday. I am sad to report that our printer was not able to get them in the mail. The printer stated that the ballots have to be verified by appointment in Santa Anna first. I believe this is where they get scanned for mailing. Apparently, this is done by appointment only, and the soonest available appointment is Monday, May 16, 2016. Once the ballots are verified, then Tuesday, May 17, 2016, they will be trucked up to the sorting center in West Sacramento to be mailed. I am sending you this information regarding this delay, so maybe you can print an article to the voters to expect their ballots around May 20, 2016.”

  1. May 20th is a Friday. May 23rd is the last day to fix mistake, the following Monday. I think they need to hire a Union shop next time, and have them ready to go by May 9th. If find this blaming of errors on the print shop to be a ruse to detract from an obvious effort to help Hillary over Bernie. I am not amused. The DNC may wind up being taught a lesson they and the rest of us will never forget. If dirty tricks by Little Debbie Waterboarder is to be the name of the game, then how is Trump different?
