Heidi Hall sets Stan Meckler straight on Americans for Good Government PAC

Editor’s note: I was glad to see Heidi Hall, who is running for district 1 Supervisor, address this bombastic letter in The Union by Stan Meckler, a local tea party co-founder and whose son, Mark, co-founded the tea party’s national movement. It should also be a lesson to The Union to “dig deeper” in its own reporting:

“I was surprised and saddened to see Mr. Meckler’s letter in The Union on April 26, calling into question my integrity after I shared information, at his request, pointing out the connections between the Americans for Good Government and Tea Party in good faith,” Heidi Hall writes in The Union.

“Please read the source material for yourself: Sierra Foothills Report, May 30, 2014 and YubaNet, March 9, 2016; then consider the company candidates keep and the funding they receive when deciding who to trust with your vote for supervisor.

“I am, and have always been, a Democrat, and received a contribution openly from the Democratic party — I have been and will continue to be transparent about my backers.

“My opponent switched his party from Democrat to Decline to State after entering the race, and took money from AFGG, a PAC created by a Tea Party founder and a GOP operative in 2014, as explained clearly in the articles cited above. They cannot now expect people to believe this group has nothing to do with the Tea Party. This is exactly the kind of secretive and cynical politics I stand against.

“I am proud to stand up for what I believe, and to do so openly.

  1. Especially telling since Mark Meckler is one of the main founders of the so-called “Americans for Good Government.” No Tea Party connection? Follow the money; follow the story.

    1. What is also telling is that these so called Constitutional Christians want a tax exemption for the TPers. That they somehow qualify for a 501, what a joke-

  2. I think it was Mother Jones who did an article on Meckler a year or so ago. It seemed to suggest that his stint at Herbalife ended badly.. something to do with mailing lists and further suggested that an alternative motive for starting the Tea Party could have also had something to do with mailing lists.

    1. Here’s a video that Touchdown Productions (AKA Gil Dominguez) put together for Duane Strawser:

On Facebook, retired Grass Valley police chief John Foster can’t show enough “love” for Duane (“District 1 baby,” he shouts). The retired GV police chief is on this video too. So is Keoni Allen of the Nevada County Contractors PAC. And Jon Byrrum, retired from the Schools.

BTW, the NCCA PAC needs to fix its website: http://nccabuildingpros.com/ncca-pac.html
