In 2013, CABRO activist Norm Sauer — a member of the Union newspaper “editorial board” — was present when “New World Order Prophet”-Defend Rural America activist Doyel Shamley, masquerading as a “natural resources consultant,” visited a County board of supervisors meeting. Sauer has a paper published on the Defend Rural America. The background is here and here, and here. It was another extremist political three ring circus.
Now the Tahoe National Forest has a new forest supervisor, Eli Ilano, replacing Tom Quinn. Quinn had been forced to answer to the western county’s political extremists when it comes to forest management. Now “Eli’s Coming”!
“He is very thoughtful and engaging, has as strong education background in environmental planning and economics as well as professional experience in land management with BLM, the Forest Service and the private sector. We are lucky to have him join the TNF,” Quinn has said previously of Ilano. I’m glad he’s a fellow Cal graduate too.
In addition, Eli has a young family — a real asset around here.
Here’s the press release:
“Eli Ilano has been selected as the new Forest Supervisor on the Tahoe National Forest. He has been the Deputy Forest Supervisor on the Tahoe since 2010.
“Ilano brings years of natural resource and public land management experience. Before coming to the Tahoe National Forest, he was Deputy Forest Supervisor for the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit in South Lake Tahoe. His past experience also includes working for the Bureau of Land Management, United States Senate, and non-profit sector, in communities around the country, focusing on natural resource issues.
“Eli earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1995, and master’s degrees in Environmental Policy and Landscape Architecture and City and Regional Planning, from the University of California at Berkeley in 2001.
“’I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to lead a great team of passionate and dedicated Forest Service employees on such a beautiful forest’ said Ilano. ‘The Tahoe National Forest is many things to many people.’
“Ilano has been the Acting Forest Supervisor for the Tahoe National Forest since January 3, 2016, when former Forest Supervisor Tom Quinn retired after 8 years with the Forest.”
Here’s “Eli’s Coming” from 1975 with Three Dog Night. LOL.
