Anti-MJ activist to “update” Tea Party on marijuana legislation

You can’t make this stuff up! The NC Scooper’s take on Don Bessee is here. You’ll also notice the Tea Party flyer reads “Lunch is salad, bread and desert (sic).” Do you mean dessert???!!!

As we roll into another year in western Nevada County, nestled in the Golden State of California, I’m reminded this blog will never, ever run out of material.

Go Don! Please “educate us” over “desert.” LOL.

Only Carl Hiaasen has more to work with.

Ha! I worked in South Florida in the early ’80s, just out of college. My colleague at the Fort Lauderdale newspaper was Michael Connelly (http://www.michaelconnelly.com/), who is now the best-selling author. Michael was a beat reporter at the time, just like the rest of us. We came across some amazing “you can’t make this stuff up” stories in the day-to-day and would joke about it. Carl worked at the Miami Herald. It is absolutely true that these experiences shaped the fictional writings of Michael and Carl. Western Nevada County remains fertile territory. Truth is often stranger than the fiction. Happy New Year!

I miss Juvinal. He was good for a weekly quote.

  3. Annie Fox says:

No bias here! Oh no! Never! LOL!

BTW, here’s the excerpt from Michael Connelly’s bio on his website: “After graduating in 1980, Connelly worked at newspapers in Daytona Beach and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, primarily specializing in the crime beat. In Fort Lauderdale he wrote about police and crime during the height of the murder and violence wave that rolled over South Florida during the so-called cocaine wars.”

  5. Laura Rose McLeod says:

Interesting. But what I’d like to see is Bessee’s bio. You know the one where he became the authority on Marijuana. Maybe you could find it in his public record of offenses.

  6. SSteve says:

I’m calling him out for three strikes on his typesetting. 1) Comic Sans to emphasize the seriousness of the event, 2) the title of the event is unnecessarily broken across two lines, 3) the “donation” line starts in the center and wraps to a second line. Did no one look at this before they hit Print?

  7. Don Nelson says:

Bessee is Keith Royal’s Oliver North. He can say what the sheriff wants to say but provides the sheriff a little arm’s length between his office and the proto-fascist Tea Party.

Behind the scenes of course (except when they surfaced publically in the fire fight over measure S) you have Republican Federated Women running the show as they have been doing since the victory well over a decade ago on NH2020.

I would not care but this social engineering is not what conservative values are all about. Since when is the Sheriff about enforcing ‘lifestyle’ (see today’s union)?

I thought the Tea Party was supposed to advocate for a “hands off” government? I thought they were about respecting market-driven economics? The market spoke long ago about POT. In terms of buying power, $1.00 will buy eleven times more POT than it did in the late 1970s.

This ‘drug war’ was lost long ago, it was never constitutional, and it is a waste of money
I thought conservatives were supposed to care about how money gets spent? Not this bunch up here, I guess.

Don Bessee will speak to this group of charlatan conservatives and none of this will even come up.
    Please, get an IQ!

  8. Gail Damskey says:

Dyslexic or down right dumb! The first being a learning disability & the second is just ordinary ignorance of the spoken language.

  9. jeffpelline says:

Don Bessee is also a sexist. On Rebane’s blog he keeps referring to Hilary Clinton as ” madam pantsuit.”
