The Year of Karma

Editor’s note: The more I think about it, 2015 is turning out to be the year of karma. Here’s one example. Be careful out there!

“Former Oregon Ducks football head coach Chip Kelly has been fired by the Philadelphia Eagles,” as the Portland Oregonian and others are reporting.

“The Eagles announced the news on Tuesday evening via a press release which you can read in its entirety below.

“Kelly, 52, was hired by the Eagles in January 2013. He went 10-6 in his first season, leading the Eagles to the NFC East title and a playoff berth.

“The Eagles stumbled in Kelly’s second season, finishing 10-6 but missing the playoffs. The Eagles (6-9) were expected to contend for a playoff berth this season in the weak NFC East, but they were blown out 38-24 by Washington on Saturday and eliminated from postseason contention.

“Kelly was the head coach at Oregon for four seasons (2009-2012), compiling a 46-7 record and leading the Ducks to four consecutive BCS bowl games.

“Here’s the full press release from Eagles CEO Jeffrey Lurie:

‘Today, Jeffrey Lurie, Chairman and CEO of the Philadelphia Eagles, released Head Coach Chip Kelly.

“‘We appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward,’ said Lurie.”

  1. The brooding little group who comments on Todd’s blog (trolls and the others) continues to brood into the New Year. 2015 was the Year of Karma for most of them. I’m wondering if 2016 will be the Year of the Sad Sacks. LOL.
