“Scott Kellermann, as many of you know, is one of my very closest and dearest friends,” our friend Rev. Christopher Seal of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Nevada City wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday. “Yesterday he was mugged in Kampala (in Uganda) and woke up in hospital having been bashed with an iron bar. CAT scan fine, some broken teeth, 30 stitches in his head, and a beat-up face, but ok.
“Keep him in your prayers. He doesn’t ever feel sorry for himself, but I wish he wouldn’t make his guardian angels work so hard. Scott and Carol are in Uganda at the Bwindi Community Hospital (which they founded) for a couple of months, then he’s on to Nepal to do medical work there.”
Longtime local doctor Scott Kellermann is a family physician and tropical medicine specialist. He and his wife, Carol, an educator, traveled to Uganda in 2000 with the Episcopal Medical Missions Foundation to assess the needs of the Batwa pygmies of the Bwindi Impenetrable Fores.
Scott’s son Seth is Rector at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Grass Valley.

Scott and Carol have been dedicated for years in their line of work in Africa. They are both extremely fine people. My hopes is that they do return home and perhaps transfer their energy into some different & safer surroundings on this planet. When ones calling starts to jeprodise ones life, time to do some reflecting. It’s a different world out there than when he started his work years ago. My thoughts are with them and their family. Scary reality.

“Scott is OK. He is not in the hospital now and is back to enjoying his amazing life, though with bumps and bruises and 30 stitches.”
Wednesday update on Scott Kellermann from Seth Kellermann:
“Thank you all for your prayers and support. It seems as though he is back to his usual self, although with a temporarily altered face. He said he already has his Halloween costume, as he has been scaring children with his appearance. He is with friends from the US and they are taking care of him while he travels with them. We expect him to make a complete recovery with time. I give thanks to God for protecting my dad and for your support.”
Dear Seth, So sad to hear of your dad’s misfortune. I’m sure that the loving thoughts and prayers of all that have had the luck in life to know him will help him make a speedy recovery. Knowing your dad he’d want us to send some of them to the misguided soul or souls that committed this terrible deed. It’s the kind of guy he is and why he’s love by so many of us. Again, all our loving thoughts and prayers are with him and your family.

My favorite Dr. When he had his Practice here in Nevada City. Proud to call he and his wife Friends, Wishing him and praying for a full and speedy recovery.
My best friend worked with them in Uganda in 2003 or 2004. I forwarded this post to her so she can share with her parents (the Aanestads). I know they will all be praying for him, as I now am. So thankful he’s ok! The Lord will undoubtedly continue to use him and his wife in beautiful ways.

Such a heart break. Scott doesn’t know me but I know him ,I Read about him ,have visited his bwindi project ,stayed in his cosy house in Bwindi and I follow his mission closely from my friend JoAnn Thompson who works In Nevada and has persisted on visiting Uganda for now 5 years.
My thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. I am glad he is out of hospital now. I work with the international hospital here in Kampala and very familiar with the health system in my country in case he needs more help
