We enjoyed this year’s 29th annual Grass Valley Car Show. Our magazine was a sponsor in the “Born to be Wild” category and for the music stage. My son and I walked around after meeting Mom for breakfast. We visited with Tom Dalldorf of Celebrator Beer News; Frank Cooney of Tofanelli’s; Todd and Marie Johnson; Sergio Martignago of Sergio’s; Daniel of Stucki Jewelers (James is in Antwerp, Belgium); Anne Starr of Sierra Starr and many others. My son sat the cockpit of Mr. Potato Head, the soapbox derby car.

We ate breakfast at “Toff’s,” bought our son some new shoes at Good Times Board Store and got a root-beer float for Mom at Lazy Dog Confections. It’s a walkable, old-fashioned downtown experience, unsurpassed in bigger cities in California. Tom shared some of his photos. My favorite is the shotgun gearshift. Only in Nevada County.
