Barry Pruett: A local blogger with a conflict of interest?

I’ve always been puzzled by Barry Pruett’s blog: “Inside Nevada County Politics”

Barry, if you recall, lost in every precinct in the county in the race for clerk-recorder. Long-timers tell me if was one of the biggest landslides in the county’s political history.

Now Barry purports to give us an “inside” look at county politics.

He doesn’t disclose, however, that his wife is paid by McClintock to represent the district ā€” in a community outreach role, no less.

Needless to say Barry carries water for McClintock at every opportunity. He’s a verbal “flame thrower” too.

Should Barry disclose his conflict of interest on his blog?

  1. Yes, should disclose.

Perhaps Use His INSIDE Knowledge to disclose the real scoop on how he got walloped soooo badly (history making, to boot) in his run for non-partisan office. WHAT WENT WRONG?

  2. Let’s see… who does Barry Pruett’s wife work for and who really pays her salary?

“his wife is paid by McClintock to represent the district”… fact is his wife is paid by the taxpayers, with tax payers money. What kind of benefits does she get that the taxpayers pay for?

McClintock doesn’t pay, the taxpayers pay. Fact is, taxpayers put the food on Barry Pruett’s dinner table.

“conflict of interest”… oh my yes.

  3. Steve,
That’s a good point. We’re helping to pay that salary and, in turn, Barry is bashing anybody who questions Tom’s actions. How’s that for a “system.” I’d “decouple” if I were the Pruetts. BTW, Doolittle’s people were much more professional. This response is “way out there.” Shows how backwards our community can be ā€” and tolerate it.
