Logue, Freedle: extreme partisans who are drawn to a clerk-recorder’s campaign

Assemblyman Dan Logue, a very conservative Republican who lives over in Linda in Yuba County, has endorsed Barry Pruett for clerk-recorder in our county.

“Barry has the skills, experience, and necessary judgment needed to administer secure and fair elections in Nevada County,” Logue said in a statement. “Barry will make sure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely while protecting the integrity of the electoral process in Nevada County.”

Pruett’s campaign treasurer, Fran Freedle this week has written an article for CABPRO’s website titled “Corruption with a capital ‘C.'” She is referring to health care reform.

“Who would ever have thought that a candidate for President who promised transparency would bring such corruption to our nation?” Freedle, a former supervisor, wrote.

Fran also is an active Republican who was bumped from the clerk-recorder’s post six years ago after supervisors felt she was appointed more in a case of “not what you know but who you know” — an ongoing problem here. The late Supervisor Drew Bedwell, a GOP along with his successor John Spencer, had added Fran’s name to the list.

Supervisor Nate Beason, a moderate Republican, has endorsed incumbent Greg Diaz for clerk-recorder. “Greg has done an exemplary job in bringing stability, order and transparency to an office left in confusion and disarray after the abandonment of it by his predecessor.”

Long-time clerk-recorder Bruce Bolinger also has endorsed Diaz.

  1. In a county where few of us agree on much of anything, Greg Diaz is bringing together a bipartisan consitituency of support. As you mentioned, Supervisor Beason, also GV Mayor Lisa Swarthout, former Nevada County Clerk Bruce Bollinger, District Attorney Cliff Newell, Nevada City Mayor Reinette Senum, former Supervisor Peter Van Zant, and many, many others.

  2. Those who believe it is important to keep the office of Clerk-Recorder (which oversees a fair and accurate vote count) in Nevada County professional and non-partisan are supporting Greg Diaz. Dan Logue, who like Aaron Kline, is not a resident of Nevada County yet seems to think he should have a voice in whom we elect for what , should also butt out.

  3. Jeff,

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your life to do this blog. It is much appreciated.

I am frequently amazed that you hit the nail squarely on the head so frequently.

I just signed up for your RSS feed today (both feeds, actually), as the great information and perspective on your blog is right there with YUBANET.COM, which is also an amazingly good resource for the foothills, especially the OPINION pieces.

Again, thanks for this story and perspective.
