“In 2011, about 3 percent of Americans took a cruise, according to the Cruise Lines International Association,” the New York Times states in its report of the ill-fated Carnival Triumph finally limping into port after a five-day ordeal. “That is fewer than half the number of people who ski, but cruising is growing faster.”
