“221 Bistro” is going to be the name of the new restaurant that was previously occupied by Lefty’s Grill on Broad Street in Nevada City. As reported previously, the new restaurant is the idea of Melissa Bryant, a former worker at Cirino’s restaurant (which is closing).
“Elixart — Fine Art Gallery & Tea Bar” also is opening inside the New York Hotel at 408 Broad Street.
The information is contained in the planning commission packets for an upcoming meeting.

So whats the story behind the name “221 Bistro”? (Should be reworded to”Bistro 221″ in my opinion, has a better flow… but then again, I’m no Anthony Bourdain)
It is the Street Address.
That is funny, in Telluride our friends used to own a restaurant called 221 Bistro on South Oak . Now Melissa who is our friend is opening up 221 Bistro on Broad St. Melissa is an awesome person who should do a great job.
The important question is, will 221 Bistro, with the Cirino’s “connection”, have the Bloody Marys as Cirino’s did? Or, for now, are they limited to just beer and wine?
She is limited to beer and wine.
And Sake?
Thanks Niel for the update…
Elixart has been there for a couple months. It’s a nice place to sample some unique teas. The owners, Sharon and Coulter, are Sierra Commons alumni.
Is there any news for a potential use of the location of Duffy’s Success?
Ah yes, Duffy’s Success…brings back memories of my yoot.
FYI, the correct name of the business is “Bistro 221″ . The agenda was incorrect.
