No longer receiving junk mail on Saturday is a no-brainer. Glad to hear they’re still doing packages on Saturday. This is a small change, nothing to see here, keep moving please…
USPS is getting screwed big time. And it’s a shame on us for letting it happen. Pre-funding retirement for people not even born yet. The mail that is delivered on Saturday is vital, with just the commercial value alone, and it will crush them even more. Take that pre-funding and give it back to the USPS. Take all the gas driven mail trucks out of service. (98% of routes are less than 50 miles.) Buy all new electric delivery vehicles throughout the country. Save untold tons of pollution going into the air everyday, jump start the electric vehicle industry in this country like it no where else on the planet. And get a two fer-
I’ve traveled to other countries that really don’t have mail service like us, that’s what’s on the list for third world prerequisites.
The Post Office was looted in 06 or 07 to pay for the Iraq war that was off the”books”.
The US Post Office is the only organization either in private or public business world that has to fund the future liabilities much like our right wing friends claim they want. 75 years into the future they need to fund health retirement accounts for their employees. It is possible they are forced to fund the retirement plans of future employees who aren’t born yet. This is the biggest obstacle the USPS is facing today.
