The Cirino’s restaurant on Broad Street in Nevada City is closing, apparently thanks to our 44th and current U.S. President, Barack Obama, no less.
But “hope and change” springs eternal.
We were at Lefty’s last night (packed) and learned that a longtime, popular waitress at Cirino’s plans to open an Italian-style restaurant at the former Lefty’s location on Broad Street. I suspect it will feature some of Cirino’s longtime favorites.
That’s good news. I love entrepreneurs in our small town — female ones, too. We’ll keep you posted.
We enjoyed breakfast at South Pine Cafe this morning. When “Mom” is out of town, my son and I get out “on the town.”
I keep some Cirino’s bloody mary mix around the house but will drink it plain today, since my son and his friend will be playing a game of “Magic” in the other room, while I do some work on our magazine business. It’s cold and wet.

The next thing we’ll be hearing Jon is that it was because Obama was requiring Cirino’s to serve goat meat cooked using recipes from Kenya….
