Tea Party rings in the New Year with sour grapes

An email from the TPP. Wish we could all work together:

Sadly, our New Year’s predictions have all come true. Congress and the President had all year to do their jobs and be fiscally responsible – and, just like we said they would, they waited until the last possible moment to fail their nation miserably with a “fiscal cliff” scheme to raise taxes and keep overspending.

We wish our predictions were wrong but, sadly, we were right. We predicted that our government “leaders” would fail, once again, to cut over-spending – and they failed. We predicted taxes would go up, not down, and they’re going up. We predicted the President, the Senate, and House leadership would play politics and look out for themselves, instead of the American people, and that’s exactly what they did.

This deal is a disaster. The tax increases in this ‘deal’ will affect prices and costs of goods and services around the country and jobs to be lost, something conveniently ignored by many in Washington. We can expect another manufactured crisis over the debt ceiling, a crisis easily averted if our leaders in Washington would address overspending now instead of the right before we hit our credit limit. Instead, Washington will probably raise the debt ceiling yet again, treating our tax dollars as Monopoly money to be spent at will with no regard for the future.

However, there are a some elected officials who we can applaud for standing for our principles and keeping the promises for which they were elected. We will include a list and contact information for these members of Congress on our website tomorrow. Please call and thank them for standing up for our principles.

Unfortunately the rest of the politicians from both parties have an addiction to overspending and they must face it now—not at midnight the day before another so-called “deadline” approaches. Any of our 12 possible solutions to overspending would be a better alternative to the out of control spending Congress now engages. We will continue to stand up for fiscal responsibility – even if we are the last ones standing.

Thank you for continuing the fight!

  1. Why even Aaron Klein, our “nonpartisan” Sierra College Trustee, sees fit to weigh in: http://blog.aaronklein.com/post/39447402803/now-it-gets-interesting

“The more things change the more they stay the same.”

  2. Mrs Marting is correct that this “fiscal cliff” could have been avoided but she can thank Boehner and his cronies for any stalemates. All they care about is the rich and themselves – not the American people. These people begged to keep their taxes low so they can create jobs. Their taxes have been low so where are the jobs? Is this just another “do as I say, not as I do”? Of course it is!

  3. The Tea Party Politicians have proven to be no than economic terrorists holding all citizens hostage to an ideology that is not held by all. We need to get the money out and take our country back from the Tea Party dictators.

Spending? Yes but let us start with corporate welfare. Why are we spending on the most profitable corporations? Why is a foreign pipeline that will spill tar sands on our farms, and water table a Tea Party fav? All that oil is to be exported, it’s a foreign company building a pipeline with foreign steel, and A Koch brothers scam. I find the Tea Party a bunch of scandalous liars. The Tea Party wants to take our voice and transfer it to corporations.

The propaganda lost the election and the few who are duped will get it eventually.

I hereby call out the Tea Party as a Bunch of bought out politicians who want big gov for the citizens and no gov for corporations.

Michele Bachman took down the American Flag and put up a Tea Party flag? I am American not Tea Party.

  4. The Tea party is no more than a Millionaire funded scam for a hostile corporate takeover of Democracy. Boehner back in as speaker and Michele Bachman who should be brought up on ethics charges just starts up the Tea Party Clown Car wasting tax payers money. Tea Party politicians are always lying and here we go. Tea Party Produces WW2 like Propaganda and America is tired of it. You lost the election, now start telling the truth.

So Mrs Marting why not really explain how congress did the spending last year for the debit ceiling and how it is merely paying last years credit card bill.

How many companies closed down sending the jobs to china by the so called job creators who hide the money overseas?

  5. The first time I tried to talk to a Tea person — at a Tea Party booth at the fairgrounds — I asked this older gentleman “Why didn’t you all organize when Bush was president, as he was responsible for creating huge debts w/o funding.” The man simply said, “Because now it is worse,” and then turned his back on me. Respecting his age, around eighty and maybe a vet of WWII, I disengaged I went on my way. But I still haven’t heard any sound or convincing arguments or policy statements from this group, which definitely includes the local members.
