“Paul Ryan was a disastrous Vice President choice for Mitt Romney,” according to CounterPunch.org. “While Ryan was useful for ginning up support for Romney among the GOP base, he proved a liability in the general election.Ryan is unpopular and his national political aspirations are finished. Ryan successfully presented himself as a moderate in his congressional district. Nationally, however, his budget and radical Ayn Rand ideas proved too much political baggage to portage across the American political landscape increasingly fatigued by T-Party fanatics.”

Republicans have no one to blame but themselves for getting on the nutbucket train called the Tea Party. All over the country you can see Pug candidates that were in trouble with their constituents go hard right to align themselves with the crazy train. During the debates for Republican candidates it was a contest to see which one could kiss more Tea Party butt. They just found out they’ve been kissing the wrong behind. Paul Ryan was just the kiss of defeat.
So the day after the election the debate over how and why the Republicans lost so overwhelmingly has begun, and our local Tea People are following right in the footsteps of the larger national groups, who are declaring the “end of America as we know it.”
The reality is that its true, it is the end of America as you thought you knew it; America is less white, less male, less oligarchical, and less dominated by people over 50 than you thought it was. The beauty of America is that we redefine our nation every generation, adjusting our values, goals, and expectations as times change.
Russ and George have fallen right into the national narrative that lost the Republicans this election to begin with.
Russ has declared that he will be pulling a “John Galt” and going on a ‘real American’ strike…taking his sharp mind and wealth creating ideas and disappearing into the political wilderness to await the rise of the Taft administration. George is blaming the ‘Peter/Paul’ principle, claiming that those who take voted for Obama and those who are taken from voted for Romney. In short, they have taken to blaming the voters, those pesky voters, those stupid voters, those voters who are just too dumb to see that ‘real America’ is the only America.
I think Eric Erickson from the conservative Red State blog said it best, “”Frankly, the fastest-growing demographic in America isn’t going to vote for a party that sounds like that party hates brown people,” Erickson said. [thanks to Huff Post].
So here is what I have to say to Russ, George, Todd, Martin and crew [and by crew I include mindless followers who don't question their friends language and values].
If you use race baiting and dog whistle racist language.. people of color are not going to vote for your candidates.
If you call women who use birth control whores…women are not going to vote for your candidates.
If you call immigrants to this country freeloaders, loafers, and leeches they are not going to vote for your candidates.
If you call young people stupid, uneducated, narcissists they are not going to vote for your candidates.
If you tell gay people that their love is less important, real or natural than yours, they are not going to vote for your candidates.
It is not about how much money you have to deliver your message, how you split the vote, how you micro-target your base, how much you discourage people voting, or how photogenic or impassioned your candidate is.
It is about what you believe….what you believe in your hearts and souls and what comes out every time you open your mouths……if you tell people you hate them, don’t respect them, and question their Americanism they are going to kick you in the ass every time.
Extremely well put Steve. I was born and raised around conservative values and grew up being told in so many ways how women, minorities, and youth of the day (the hippie movement) were of lesser value as human beings. To boot I went to a parochial school where I was taught just the opposite and to “love thy neighbor as thyself”. Because of the oppressive treatment, I registered Democrat and became a Liberal supporting Liberal causes. The more someone disses on another, the more resistant that another becomes.
Very well said Steven!
Why am I seeing a video ad here, some guy in a lettuce field?
