Mitt angers longtime Republican corporate allies to get elected — “eating their own”

Editor’s note: Mitt is now insulting the automakers, longtime supporters of GOPers, to get elected. In fact, the CEO of GM during the “rescue” was a staunch GOPer.

“Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has broadened his attack on President Barack Obama’s auto industry restructuring, implying that General Motors used the aid to hire more workers in China than in the U.S.

“’Barack Obama says he saved the auto industry. But for who? Ohio or China?’ says the narrator in a radio spot running in Ohio. ‘Under President Obama, GM cut 15,000 American jobs, but they are planning to double the number of cars built in China, which means 15,000 more jobs for China. And now comes word that Chrysler plans to start making Jeeps in, you guessed it, China.’”

“GM quickly defended its performance.

“’We’ve clearly entered some parallel universe during these last few days,’ GM spokesman Greg Martin said. ‘No amount of campaign politics at its cynical worst will diminish our record of creating jobs in the U.S. and repatriating profits back to this country.’

“Separately, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne used an e-mail to employees today to refute the implication in a Romney TV ad that Chrysler may move all Jeep production from the U.S. to China.”

  1. I have said it before here and will say it again. Romney/ Ryan are worse than McCain/ Palin but somehow this election is close, why and who sits in a position of power to change but doesn’t?

  2. Say or Do Anything, just get elected

“So you put a theory out, ‘Well, that’s ’cause the ambassador’s supposed to get kidnapped, Obama’s in on this, it’s his idea.’ That’s an explanation that some people can believe, because it’s harder to believe that you’ve got a president that would put campaign
considerations first. I’m telling you, he would.”
    – Rush Limbaugh

“It is now the worst cover-up or incompetence I have ever observed in my life.”
    – Sen. John McCain on the attack in Banghazi

McCain has been getting to many talking points from Rush lately, even for him it’s over the top. But it seems that Romney has taken a cue from Rush in that he (Romney) will say anything, depending on who he’s in front of at the moment. When you Google “personality shift”, the second thing up is a story about Romney.

They could still be running Herman Cain — 999!

  3. So Rmoney sends jobs to China = good. Rmoney says Obama is sending jobs to China (not) = bad. Rush Limbaugh is one of the phoniest, hypocritical, nerds to knuckle drag on this planet. Wasn’t he supposed to be moving back in 2008?

  4. Even Karl Rove has to be shaking his head, or throwing things at the wall in frustration, with some of the bizarre stuff the Romney campaign is doing.

  5. Election Theft by Romney Team and poll watchers asking for photo ID when none is needed.

    • Chip,
I wrote an opinion piece just after the 47% remark, maybe I should send it in to the paper after all. It connects the 47% with those targeted with voter id laws.

      • This says a lot about the rights attempts at indicting Obama for anything he says or does.

      • Do send it, Ben. It will be superior to the expected Other Voices opinions, as exemplified by that fellow Crosswaite ( I forget his name and precise spelling,) Pieces like he wrote –basically, one assertion after another, apparently meant to be unquestionably accepted as the ultimate truth by a reader, w/o any attempt to recognize respected sources — and Ackerman ran, were versions of prose filled with incorrect factoids, non sequiturs, mystical logic but acceptable, I presume, because the attack against liberalism was obviously ingrained and presented w/o, it appeared, even a faint flicker of feasible fallibility. (.Pardon my indulgence).

In the gentleman’s defence, his opinions and writing tend to make me think he is elderly and perhaps imbued with many “greatest generation” experiences –depression, WWII — and is probably a quality fellow.
