I love this. Check out the full song by “Odetta”, Easy to find on You Tube. Also read the comments under her full version and check out some of her other music… outstanding stuff, worth a listen.
This S/C commercial is responsible for getting a whole lotta folks connected to her music. Some real great blues and old school blues.
And watch this video a few times. Check out how the dog gets into the story. Check out how others react and how he struts the beach like Saturday Night Fever. This guy owns it… “I gotta be me”.
On the other hand, Steve, did you notice the connection that was made between being yourself, relaxed and happy, and becoming inebriated with Southern Comfort? We find it repugnant when the cigarette interests do this but why not when the alcohol interests do it? Alcoholism and drug addiction are bringing our great society to its knees and these folks are publicly encouraging it in order to make money.
As far as the alcohol, we’re second rate to the Russkies. Worse than them are the Georgians on the Black Sea. Can’t refuse to drink with them, so I was steady drunk for a week, when it was an SSR.
If so, I think you did one of the best houses in Grass Valley, The “Metal” house, I thinks it’s at the top of Empire. If you… it’s amazing work! That’s an award winner and I have only seen it from the street. Very well exacuted.
We should talk as I’m working on a loft style, multi residential unit project. The feel and look of the “Metal house” is what I have in mind.
I wish, Steve, but I am more a builder. Lately I’ve been restoring houses that were in very sad condition then selling them to finance ideas I believe passionately in. Some of these are self supporting schools in Pakistan, self sufficiency opportunities for the homeless and -I hope one day soon- local schools that listen to the students.
Greg… “becoming inebriated with Southern Comfort”? The guy is an adult, at the beach and he is having a cocktail.
Guess we need to shut down all those wine tasting shops in downtown Grass Valley asap and stop the Nevada County winery folks down fast.
Better shut down the advertising the Nevada County winery folks do because “Alcoholism and drug addiction are bringing our great society to its knees and these folks are publicly encouraging it in order to make money”.
Hey Jeff… drop the “wine” from your Sierra Food Wine Art magazine and stop running ads for wineries and doing all those stories about wine because you are “publicly encouraging it in order to make money”.
It’s simple…the lack of personal responsibility and accountability for ones actions is the real problem,
A middle aged overweight guy having a drink at the beach(cool k-9 too) – I can relate to this guy. I would not be caught dead in suit like his! A nice change from the Marlboro Man, or Dos Equis’s worlds most interesting man. I think I am thirsty!

Greg, you are an architect, I think?

Southern Comfort has a long, interesting history. It started out in New Orleans:
