Ryan, reporter spar

“A Michigan ABC affiliate posted video of an animated exchange between Paul Ryan and a local reporter on Monday evening, prompting questions about whether Ryan walked out of the interview,” as Politico is reporting.

“When it aired, reporter Terry Camp characterized the interview as ending badly, and said Ryan was “not specific in his answers.” Meanwhile, the Ryan campaign said the candidate was asked a “weird question” relating gun violence to tax cuts.”

  1. The guy asked a hard question (at least to someone who doesn’t have the answer), but it was luckily caught by one of Ryan’s handlers and the interview was over. (we let our candidate just blubber whatever he feels like and then we take him and put him incommunicado) This election cycle has become the first where the hard right candidates wont even go near a reporter unless they are from Fox so called news. So any substantive, in depth question will never be asked or answered, and the right wing that call them selves candidates not only wont be forced to answer, we wont know who they really are until they finally get themselves elected.
But what is outstanding is the indignation that the right wing show when they do get asked a simple question, they start to accuse the reporter of “setting them up” and then belittle the guy for even going there.
Though he stepped in it big time when he said that Obama didn’t want to take your guns, the NRA will have him stop that kind of talk. How could they sell more little window stickers to these Rubes, if their candidate (Ryan) isn’t sowing the hate.

  2. Terry Camp will not get another interview with a prominent politician. The way it works is politicians want the interviewer to help them along to get all of their talking points out. The fourth estate has let down America more than anything else over the last 20- 30 years.

The profit motive should be taken out of at least these three things.

    • Political reporting, on TV at least, is going the way of reporting on Hollywood celebrities. All tightly controlled.

  3. Lyin Ryan Looks Like A Frightened Marmoset. Did His Handlers His Blankie Or Did Wonderboy Miss His Nap?

  4. I’ve noticed that most journalists, when confronted with the bullying tactics of the extreme right-wing, act like they’re afraid of their own shadow. Even Jim Lehrer was steamrolled by bully Mitt. I fully expected Mitt to lunge from his Ayn Rand pulpit to shear Jim’s hair from his head. At least this reporter wasn’t intimidated into not asking a cogent question. I hope the vice-presidential moderator is braver than these messes. Someone needs to call a liar a liar, and a lie a lie–even when they puff up their chests and preen like peahens when telling them

  5. Seems you wouldn’t see anything like this on lame stream media like Faux News.
