I don’t live in Nevada City but I know Erin and would vote for her.
As for the merger of GV NC distircts, I think that the discussion and the effort is years past due. In my opinion, the entire county needs to be one district. The savings in the cost of administration alone would provide more resources to your students.
I whole heartedly support Erin in her run for school board. I do not live in Nevada City, but for the people who do, a vote for Erin is a vote for excellence.
There are compelling reasons to reduce the number of districts from 10 to three or four districts, but I think that having only one district in the county would prove to be unwieldy.
I congratulate the GV and NC school districts for their current efforts to consolidate, and I wish them the best of luck in what I am sure will prove to be a very difficult task.
I tend to agree with MA. With the fiscal challenges our schools are facing, consolidation is a good thing but it may also leave some schools out in the cold or not getting the lions fair share when it comes to distribution of funds and services.
This consolidation should have began years ago, during the “good times,” as Michael A. and others have said. Now the schools’ back is against the wall in a “no win” situation. Let’s hope they can work things out.
