“The prize lay in front of them, looking as rich and scrumptious as a two-layer chocolate cake,” as The Chronicle is reporting.
“The Giants stared at a September schedule chock full of losing teams and a rival from Los Angeles that was crumbling. To capture a division title and return to the postseason they merely needed to stay upright and march through the front door.
“Instead, the Giants brought a bulldozer and crashed through the wall, winning the 2012 National League West championship Saturday night with 10 games to spare.

And what a beautiful game it was. You have to see the Sandoval catch–a row of seats in, past foul territory he snags a pop fly, all the while blowing bubblegum bubbles. He goes a** over tea kettle while grabbing onto the third rail. You just have to see it.
We saw the post-game on CSN and it almost felt like we were at the park. Goggles are the new black, otherwise your eyes burn from the champagne (I wonder if it’s from California
Kruk and Kuip were priceless. Bochey is an incredible manager.

Meanwhile, Melky Cabrera sits at home and waits for some other team to sign him in the offseason. For sure, he won’t be in a Giants uniform next year.
If the Giants make it to the World Series, wonder how big a share of the series money his teammates will vote to give him? Maybe the team’s bat boys will be voted a larger share than what Melky gets?
Steve, you have to remember that Melky is pretty well liked by his teammates(well, former now)I’m sure if it is up to them, he will get a nice piece of the pie. You are right however, he will not be in a Giants uniform next season.
Steve,
My dad and I were talking about Melky the other day and how his prolonging his signing a contract kind of backfired on him. He was positioning himself to have great leverage in his negotiations and now he is damaged goods. The more things change the more things stay the same.
GO GIANTS!
Here you go: Pablo Sandovals amazing play:
Thanks Pete!
I hope they take it all the way!
