“Three different sources close to the Romney campaign indicate to NBC News that Mitt Romney will announce House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan as his vice-presidential running mate at tomorrow’s campaign event in Norfolk, VA.,” NBC News is reporting.
“The announcement will be in front of the U.S.S. Wisconsin — which just happens to be Ryan’s home state.
“With recent national polls showing Romney trailing President Barack Obama, Ryan is a bold pick. He would excite economic conservatives, and is considered one of his party’s rising stars.
“But his budget plan — which would substantially transform Medicare and Medicaid — is a lightning rod.
“In fact, Democrats argue that Ryan’s selection marks an opportunity to highlight Ryan’s desired changes to Medicare, which include giving future seniors a voucher or premium support to help pay for their health insurance. Under Ryan’s plan, future seniors would have the choice of using the voucher/premium support to purchase private insurance or through Medicare’s traditional fee-for-service model.

Whoops, another Sarah Palin pick, though perhaps not as bad. I would imagine that at least he reads newspapers and magazines.
But his budget fantasies are fairy dust, and he lives in fever dream of how politics works. I’m not so much against his ideas of how to balance the budget as I am against his political tactics. He seems to think that gridlock is the best we can do for this nation, and he is 100% wrong.
Good news for Obama, if Ryan is the pick.

So to get this straight, vote for the ex-Governor of Massachusetts that invented Obamacare (and who denies it ever happened), along with the main reason the Senate is broken (Ryan wont let Boehner read his own watch by himself) for 4 years, because his tea party base wont let them go to the bathroom with out an investigation from Daryll Issa? Sure.

A waste of a strategic opportunity. The only reason that Ryan was picked was to shore up the Conservative vote that has always had issues with Romney’s “moderate” track record. But the Conservative wing hates Obama more than the distrust Romney and would have voted for him anyway. The election is now Obama’s to loose and frankly he and his team are way too smart for that. Watch them continue to hammer Romney on his tax issue, and now watch them hammer away on the dismantling of Social Security and Medicare issue.
