Scoop: Patricia Tureaud is a likely new candidate for GV City Council; deadline for others extended until Wed.

Grass Valley resident Patricia Tureaud has pulled the paperwork to run for Grass Valley City Council, City Hall confirmed for me.

In addition, the deadline for other applicants is expected to be extended until next Wednesday.

Now there are five declared or expected candidates for the three seats in November: Jan Arbuckle, Lisa Swarthout, Howard Levine and Jim Firth, as well as Tureaud.

More candidates could be filing as well. You can expect hard-fought races, with lots of grassroots campaigning.

Patricia ran for Grass Valley City Council in 2010. She was defeated by Dan Miller and Jayson Fouyer:

Grass Valley City Council results:
(2 open seats)

Dan Miller 2,082 votes (37.1%)
Jason E. Fouyer 1,680 votes (29.9%)
Patricia Tureaud 1,396 votes 24.9%)
Edward W. Yarborough 454 votes (8.1%)
