We’ve been analyzing some of the results from last week’s election. Here’s one: One of the precincts where George Smyrnos beat Tom Anderson for Judge was in downtown Grass Valley (CP26), not even George’s own home precinct.
All told, there were six and one close one, but GP 26 was the largest percentage and the only win in Grass Valley:
Tom/George
CP19— 148/147 50/50 Sierra Pines Methodist Church
CP15— 183/192 49/51 Alta Sierra Elem School, Bd A
CP40— 85/92 48/52 Penn Valley Community Church Bd B
CP53— 80/87 48/52 Banner Grange #627
CP20— 160/181 47/53 Alta Sierra Elem School, Bd B
CP18— 167/211 44/56 Alta Sierra C/c, Bd C
CP26— 44/55 44/56 Grass Valley Veterans Bldg, Bd C
I highly suspect a Smyrnos supporter — or George himself — walked the Grass Valley district. It worked for Supervisor Terry Lamphier when he beat John Spencer (who happens to be a “CP26′er” himself).

Your article confused me. The streets you list are not all in one of the precincts shown on your graphic. The numbers in the graphic do not correspond with CP26. Am I missing somethng?
Ray
Ray,
The map was derived from the Election’s Office website for the third supervisorial district:
http://www.mynevadacounty.com/nc/igs/gis/docs/GIS%20Maps%20(Public)/Election%20Maps/2012%20February%20Precincts/2011_Supervisor_Dist_3_Precinct_Map.pdf
These published election results are for the consolidated precincts, not the precincts as defined in the elections database.
The two precincts that were combined to create CP26 are 307 (including 307.01) and 339.
Inside baseball
Michael:
Speaking of inside baseball, Tim Lincecum is now 2-7 with an even 6.00 ERA. Yikes! Maybe those goofy mechanics are beginning to take their toll?
Well, you know what they say Steve: “Let Timmy Smoke!”
