I received this press release from the Tahoe-Truckee Bar Association:
On June 5, 2012, Nevada County voters will be asked to vote for either incumbent Presiding Judge Tom Anderson or candidate George Smyrnos for the office of the California Superior Court Judge, County of Nevada.
Earlier this month, the Tahoe-Truckee Bar Association (“TTBA”) conducted a plebiscite, requesting its members to assess the relative qualifications of the two candidates. Prior to the plebiscite, the TTBA asked each candidate to provide a brief biography and statement of qualifications. TTBA also invited the candidates to attend a debate, which Judge Anderson attended.
The plebiscite was concluded on May 9, 2012; the results were independently tallied and certified by TTBA President, Richard Molsby, Esq. The complete results of the plebiscite are hereby published as follows:
Thomas Anderson
Highly qualified: 14
Qualified: 2
George Smyrnos:
Qualified: 4
Not qualified: 6
No opinion: 4
Thomas Anderson:
Best qualified: 16
George Smyrnos:
Least qualified: 12
Not all ballots contained a response to each question: therefore the totals do not match up perfectly. In an effort to honor every vote, the TTBA did not discard any ballots for incompleteness.
