The white, wooden church sits on a hilltop above the small town. It was built by shipbuilders in 1859 and is the oldest church in continuous use in Sonoma County.
St. Teresa’s was featured in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 film, The Birds, and is the subject of a famous photograph created in 1953 by Ansel Adams. We have a print in our home, next to a typewritten note from Herb Caen: “Much love, luck and happiness to you and Shannon — a lovely name.”
We honeymooned in Anguilla and St. Barts, swimming, sailing and celebrating. We spent #20 in Hawaii with our son. Today will be more sedate but still enjoyable — getting our son to school on time, reading page proofs of Placer County’s Visitor Guide and barbecuing swordfish on the Big Green Egg. We have been blessed over the years — no doubt about it.
