Sam4Congress.com

I “Googled” Sam Aanestad and this parody website of the Congressional candidate — Sam4Congress.com — appeared at the top.

Some examples: “FYI – Sam Aanestad is not an “Oral Surgeon” or “Doctor” as he claims. He is ONLY licensed as a dentist, did not go to medical school and does not have an MD. How important is this? Not very – except as evidence of a long and deliberate habit of misleading to the voters of the district.”

Though Sam did not go to medical school, he did receive a DDS from UCLA and his Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Highland Alameda Hospital in Oakland.

More on “Dentist claims the right to be called Dr.” in the UK is here.

You get the point. The internet is changing how we communicate.

  1. A Doctor of Dental Science still have the right to be called a Doctor. A Dentist with a Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from and accredited school has the right to be called an Oral Surgeon. This is simply a cheap shot from one of Dr. Aanestad’s opponents. I’m not an Aanestad supporter and I will be voting for Jim Reed.

Satire my derriere. This is a political hit piece.

  2. I think this top two primary process is really going to ruffle feathers. It may mean hard times for third parties, which is a shame, but it will also mean higher accountability within the parties.

Of course, this is not the kind of accountability I want to see. This is, as Gail said, nothing but a political hit piece. I am voting for Jim Reed as well, but if a democratic did this to another democrat I would not vote for them. But then again, Aanestad’s campaign did the same thing to LaMalfa…..they are both way out of bounds.

    • This new “primary” set up is a very hard time for third parties. While it is likely that in many places there will be 2 Dems or 2 Repubs on the ballot in the fall, the odds of a third party ever making the top two cut is slim. Primaries came about to get the party’s selection of candidates out of the back room. They are often called party primaries. What we have now is not a primary, but first round voting.

All parties should have the opportunity to field a candidate in the general election. That is what the general election is for. With so many people not registered with parties, they wanted more of a say in the primary, so they passed this. But it has always and ever been that if you want to participate in the primary, you should register with a party or pull the party ballot if the party allows. That’s the deal. I was not registered with any party for many, many years and I accepted my own decision.

Also remember this folks, this new system that some of you voted in will not even allow you to cast a write-in vote in the general election. Are you sure this is what you really wanted? I hope that after this experiment, California gets its senses back and returns to party primaries.

  3. Wow, if this is true then he’s made his money practicing the wrong medicine. All these years I understood he was an oral surgeon. YIKES! We went to the same church and he used to talk politics during coffee hour in which one time he insisted that we should write off our debt because we owe it to ourselves anyway. YIKES!

  4. I found the discussion below this post interesting:
