Somehow I get the feeling that the Tea Party is getting the run around from the IRS because they refuse to divulge the information requested. What comes around goes around and ……
IF this is true it is wrong, should be stopped, and if anyone responsible for this action can be identified, they should face disciplinary action. Don’t get me wrong, I think anyone that embraces the Tea Party philosophy is suffering from chronic idiocy, but they have a perfect right to act like any other nonprofit. In addition, their members deserve the right of anonymity if they choose to be anonymous, and protection under the constitution to freely associate. I only wish our own hipocritical local Tea Party members applied the same standards to other nonprofits.
Evidently the tea party was applying for exemptions that made them “non-political non-profit” (church, museum), so the IRS sent them the appropriate forms, including the one that wants to know who it is that pays the big bills. But, the church should lose any kid of tax “exemption” as well, they aren’t “non-political” anymore than the Koch— I mean– tea party.
Does the tea party try and say they are like a church? Tax exempt?
