The local media reporting on the medical marijuana ordinance in an hours long BOS meeting. A decision has been deferred until May 8:

Just now driving back from Pioneer Park after watching my son’s Little League game I thought I heard KVMR report that the board voted 3-2 on the emergency ordinance. Since it needed to be 4-1 in order to pass, the ordinance failed. Lamphier (District 3) and Owens (District 5) voted against.
I wonder what the “urgency” was in the first place that required this ordinance to be rushed into place? Maybe just an end run attempt by the sheriff’s dept. to catch people off guard?
It is not like Sheriff Royal just discovered pot in someone’s backyard for the first time.
I have not noticed a marked uptick in crimes or arrests, not pot possession/sales related, that would lead me to believe that pot businesses are more dangerous to have around than other businesses.
We have had all sorts of arrests for bizarre behavior by individuals though. These could have been related/ or not, to meth use, alcohol abuse, or, I suppose, pot.
One tends to wonder if pot growing is severely curtailed, the pot businessfolks will switch to meth production, or if that is crossing some ethical or moral line.
The basis for the “urgency” is that it could not be over-turned by courts.
