Years ago I agreed with a couple of his statements about remarks PETA or fellow travelers had said. It was about hunter’s causing anxiety in animals; well prey animals need anxiety or soon become chow.
But, IMO, this dude made a direct threat to the life of the President and should be prosecuted. It won’t happen. This is the kinda of guy I really hate; so gun crazy and belligerant–should have turned in his guitar, cut his disguising long hair, joined the Marines when I did, and fought for his country. What a hypocrite.
That whole beheading, machine gun riff from a certifiable gun nut was probably a bridge too far. Looking on the bright side of things, I’ll bet Nugent knows quite a few $47 dollar hookers…just sayin:)
The rhetoric is over the top. Nugent himself is very unlikely to carry out his threats. The problem that I see is that Nugent’s words may significantly lower inhibitions for one of the followers he is egging on with his imprimatur of celebrity.
In August of 2010 Nugent pled Guilty to “baiting” deer, and then shooting a “spiked” buck (which is illegal) in Yuba County. All for a televised bow hunt on the Outdoor Channel. In a place where deer are everywhere, all I have to do is plant ANYTHING and “they” will come.
What a spokesperson Ted is for Romney, I mean being the animal lover that Mitt is already- and then get talk of being “Bravehearts” and chopping heads off. It’s all in the messaging, I know, but when celebrity lend their name to causes, you get what you get- warts and all.
Ted recently was in trouble again for killing animals outside the law: ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Rocker Ted Nugent has agreed to plead guilty to transporting a black bear he illegally killed in southeast Alaska.
The Detroit native made the admission in signing a plea agreement with federal prosecutors that was filed Friday in U.S. District Court.
Calls seeking comment from Nugent, his Anchorage attorney, Wayne Ross, and assistant U.S. Attorney Jack Schmidt were not immediately returned.
The plea agreement says Nugent illegally shot and killed the bear in May 2009 on Sukkwan Island days after wounding a bear in a bow hunt, which counted toward a state seasonal limit of one bear.
According to the agreement, the hunt was filmed for his Outdoor Channel television show “Spirit of the Wild.”
The document says Nugent knowingly possessed and transported the bear in misdemeanor violation of the Lacey Act.
So not only is he a repeat offender, he’s a lousy shot, possibly turning the wounded bear into an aggressive threat or condemning it to a slow, unnecessary dearh. And since along with his demonstration of his other cowardly characteristics, I believe these truths to be self evident, that he is also a racist, who touts his machine gun because that’s what he probably needs to ensure a kill.
W/o refreshing my memory by pulling a tome from my book shelves, I believe the NRA began to gain membership and momentum after the Civil War, along with the, until then, rather quixotic notion and morphing of the intent of the 2nd amendment confering a right to bear arms for personal defence. W/o elaborating on original intent, in the defeated South, ex-slaves began to dominate the militias and thus many of these new militia members, one at a time, would be dragged from their homes at night and murdered by unreconstructed mobs of whites. A theory of law rebutting ownership of arms outside of militias began to arise and grew with the support in the late 19c of the NRA, despite the lack of court rulings supporting such revisionism. The source of this research is Saul Cornell, Asst. Prof. Ohio St. and Director of the 2nd Amendment Research Center at the John Glenn Institute. Hope I summerized him diligently. I think I did.
Why is it that the most gun fevered “patriots” (Nugent, Cheney etc.) are the ones who went out of their way to NOT serve their country when they had a chance. Psycopathological hypocrisy.
This chapter in the Nugent saga seems to have come to its predictable conclusion–really to hot to pursue in an election year, INHO–despite the near certainty of more dire consequences had some progressive made similar comments toward Bush or Cheney during their Imperium.
But Nugent must be judged by the still relevant axiom, ‘Actions speak louder than words’, and with him continuing to craft his image as a tough, gun toting, freedom fighter for hard won liberties, along with all the trash talking pejoratives he tosses like hand grenades at those whom dare to express disagreement with his tunnel vision constricted view of the Constitution, he’s a mere loud mouth; cowardly, opportunistic, and a blathering chickenhawk. Where ever the truth lies behind his deferment to escape the draft during Vietnam; a student deferment, or the pooping in his pants for a week before his physical, a man who later writes/sings lyrics of “Keep a gun in your hand”, because the Stormtroopers are comming demonstrates the epitome of false bravado and too many hours watching John Wayne movies. And he’s a bit confused about whom will unleash the Stormtroopers; those with the guns, or those w/o the guns.
Mr. Macho, do something consistant with your philosophy and macho words. Go hunt for Kony in Uganda.
More whining today from Ted Nugistan. This guy is a real piece of work.
My favorite comment from the article: “Here is how Mister Nugent differs from Al Qaeda: Only one of them knows that they can’t make threats against Our Commander in Chief and then expect to be welcomed onto a US Military base.”

I think the Secret Service will quickly come to the conclusion that Ted Nugent is no rocket scientist.

My point exactly. What they shoot at can’t shoot back.
Nugent is a coward and a moron. On the other hand Strnaglehold is an awesome song. Just sayin.
No doubt. His band did rock.
Sounds like ol’ Teddy has had a relapse of Cat Scratch Fever and is delirious.
Sad creature.
And to think, it multiplied.
