Nevada City meets on April 11 to discuss downtown “behavioral problems”

Editor’s note: This email is being passed around.

On Wed., April 11th at 6:30 p.m. at the City Hall, there will be an important City Council meeting for everyone who is concerned about behavioral problems that have been escalating throughout downtown Nevada City and especially on lower Commercial Street. For those of you who cannot attend, please contact the City officials before the meeting to let them know how you feel. They truly want to know.

During this meeting, the new Nevada City Police Chief, Jim Wickham, will be addressing the City Council with a report of his first days as the new NC Police Chief. He will be discussing the problems he has observed and will offer suggestions to improve the situation.

The new Police Chief has met with some of the business owners recently to discuss what can be done before more of them go out of business. He appears to be genuinely concerned with changing the old behavior of the Police Station in response to these problems. He has ideas, but says he needs community involvement and support in the process.

Middle of the Road sings hit song “Sacramento”

Middle of the Road are a Scottish pop group who enjoyed success across Europe and Latin America in the early 1970s. The group also sang a hit song called “Sacramento.”

“As the Scottish group’s ode to the state’s capitol city, ‘Sacramento’ hit #1 on all European singles charts, making it one of the biggest California songs in the history of Europe,” according to Californiality.com. “The song’s depiction of Sacramento as ‘a wonderful town’ where ‘people are the loving kind’ causes mixed reactions from those who know the city’s political climate.”

I see the glass as half full, however. If you think about it, we were being provided with the answer to all of California’s political woes as far back as the 70s if we just bothered to listen to “Middle of the Road.” Now look at the mess we’ve gotten ourselves into instead. LOL. Listen up:
