Join the Nevada County Republican Party at its April meeting on Wednesday, April 11, beginning at 6:30 PM. Our guest speaker will be Jeff Ackerman, Editor and publisher of The Union.
Exit question: When did The Union publisher last speak at a local Democratic meet-up? LOL.

Right at home?
He must figure more GOPers read print newspapers than Democrats. LOL 2.
Why doesn’t Barry Pruett disclose his conflict of interest when he goes out flacking for Sam Aanestad on his blog?

I mean the guy’s wife works for Aanestad’s campaign co-chairman, Tom McClintock. Small towns are a hoot!

You know I actually don’t have any problem with anyone running for office (like Tamietti running for judge), or anyone who is a “public figure” (like Ackerman) talking to any group. I bet the Democrats would invite JA to a First Tuesday meeting. I was at First Tuesday a couple of weeks ago and I am not a registered Democrat. If the Republicans invited me I would go as well. I think that’s a good thing.
Why is it, Steve, that these folks only go to the tea party or GOP meet-ups in an election year? BTW, when was the last time you were invited to speak by these folks? You are an intelligent man, but don’t hold your breath. I also find it odious that a “rally” w/ red shirts has to be tied to a speaker’s luncheon titled “Five questions to ask a judge.” Come on. It’s overtly political. The judge should use better judgment.
I would tend to agree that, if I were a judge, I would be wary of such a meeting. But these are elected judicial posts, and the entire population of the county is the constituency of a judge. If I were a judge I would want to know what they thought, what their questions are…
I would love to know what the five questions are, and whether any of our judges would have the guts to question the premise of the question…..
By the way, I would happily go to a Republican party function, or a TP function, if I were invited to speak. As a matter of fact, I would love to debate Judi Caler, in open forum and under third party moderated rules, about community planning issues and the link (or lack of link) to Agenda 21. Perhaps some kindly Tea Party member will make the suggestion……
Ooops, It looks like it the four questions you have always wanted to ask a judge…
I can here them now…
Ooops, I pulled a Juvinall, that should read, “I can hear them now.”
Too bad I didn’t win the lottery. I had such great plans for The Union after I had purchased it.
Hey Big Boy. Glad you are still keeping my calendar. I thought that county flak job would keep you too busy trying to drum up tourists.
To answer your question…I have never been invited to speak to a Dem Central Committee meeting, although I had a great meeting with its leadership in my office not long ago.
Thanks for the reminder, though. I’d forgotten all about it.
“Great” meeting? You sure about that? I do my homework. Without violating any confidence pacts, readers here should know that the “great” meeting was a request by the Democratic Central Committee to continue running a monthly column in the newspaper — sort of a no brainer if you’re an even-handed newspaper editor. From what I hear, you might work on your tone of voice too. The word “arrogant” keeps popping up.
Maybe the editor is an expert on Agenda 21 and other “Fantastical” subjects. In that case the Tea Party provides a built in “tin-foil hat” audience. And maybe that’s why the dems don’t ask him to speak. They’re not buyin what he’s peddlin…Kate
